Born in Yorkshire, England, into a third generation textile family, Andrew majored in business at Liverpool University, being expected to take over from his father one day. Traveling extensively in Europe had broadened his horizons, and after meeting his wife, returned to England to pursue furniture design. A visit to the British Artist Blacksmith Association’s International Exhibition, “Fe”, fired his love of metal and his need to learn the skills of a traditional blacksmith.

Andrew began his training at Hereford College of Art and Design, and graduated with honors. He worked on private commissions and several public artworks for the regeneration of inner cities in Britain, before immigrating to America.

Andrew has an eye for design and form, combined with attention to detail and craftsmanship to create beautiful metal work. He takes inspiration from the places he has lived and visited, drawing from the differing architecture and nature they have exposed him to.

"Being trained as a Blacksmith Artist has given me the tools to express myself in a medium that has the potential to be around long after I am gone. Although I originally trained in traditional blacksmithing I am particularly interested in using hot forging techniques to produce contemporary designs. The process of forging gives life to the metal not only in its form, but in the way light hits the many surface textures and facets created by hammer, tools and anvil. I feel bound to produce work of a quality that will be judged by generations to come."
